Who it is for

Manufacturing and warehousing

The equipment is the business, so the duties attach to the equipment: examined on interval, maintained, and used by people who were trained and can be shown to have been.

What usually applies

A starting point, not a determination. Which of these actually lands on your register depends on the building and how it is used, which is what the applicability questions are for.

What tends to matter here

  • Lifting equipment and accessories run on different intervals — six months and twelve — and the accessories are what get under-examined because they are small and numerous.
  • Local exhaust ventilation carries its own thorough examination and test, and an extraction system nobody has tested is a control measure in name only.
  • Substances generated by the work count as much as the ones you buy, which is how wood dust and welding fume get missed.
  • Racking inspection, forklift examination and driver training sit together, and an asset register is what keeps them attached to the right item.
  • Larger operations meet the energy and carbon reporting thresholds, and that data is collected through the year or not at all.
